We’re back in the boonies of Tonopah, Arizona, where there is plenty of quiet, scenic BLM land near Saddle Mountain for dispersed camping.
And we just happened to find Debbie on I-10 in Phoenix, so she followed us here.
We took a bike ride around our new neighborhood and we like what we saw. There are plenty of roads and trails to hike or bike, and many level places to camp.
Last night’s sunset wasn’t anything special, but the last light of the sun on the rocks is always nice to see. You can barely see our nearest neighbor on the right close to the mountain.
We are a few miles south of I-10, which is visible in the distance, but we couldn’t hear the traffic until we went out last night to look at the stars. Just had to play around with the Sky Guide iPad app now that we’re away from the lights of the big city. So now I know where Orion is, but we’ll see if I can find it tonight without the help of the iPad. By the way, the night sky here is incredible.
Sophie got a new cat Walking Jacket a few days ago, since her big belly outgrew the old harness. It doesn’t appear that she’ll be able to escape from this one, and she looks quite cute in it, don’t you think?
Thanks for showing the walking jacket - I sent them an email to find a retailer near me. Two of our cats enjoy going outside but our current harness doesn't fit properly and this one looks much better!
ReplyDeleteI meant to give credit to Lisa from Metamorphosisroad for telling us about the cat Walking Jacket. They use one on their cat Rosie and have been happy with it.
DeleteLooks like a nice spot, and you obviously have an internet connection. :)
ReplyDeleteIn fact, we have a good Verizon 4G without having to use the amplifier.
DeleteSophie looks wonderful. I am sure she is the talk of the cat world.
ReplyDeleteSophie looks great. When we had a cat that looked like Sophie, he would wear a harness but when we tried something like what Sophie is wearing, he went ballistic and we could never get it on him.
ReplyDeleteThe red looks very stylish on Sophie! It is difficult, but Rosie can back her way out of the thing if she is determined (freaked out) so we do still keep an eye on her.
ReplyDeleteLooks like an awesome spot!
Be aware that your cat CAN get out of the jacket if determined enough. I have one just like that and was walking my cat Rowdy in it when a dirt biker wearing his helmit came up to ask me some questions. I guess Rowdy thought he was an alien because he totally went nuts and managed to twist out of the jacket, and it was really secure on him - no way I thought he could ever get out of it. I guess the moral is to keep an eye on cats no matter what, especially around aliens. Cats are devious creaures and I wish I were half as smart.
ReplyDeleteLooks like another great place. How very nice to have TOTAL dark to enjoy the night sky. I agree, Sophie looks very fine in her new duds.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you know....."Never under estimate a cat's ability to escape!"......LOL
ReplyDeleteI love your new quiet, private location:) Beauty all around.
ReplyDeleteSophie looks so cute! I love the red with her black and white.
Carla is getting very antsy! Hitting the road in 20 days! Beautiful spot!
ReplyDeleteThat really is a pretty area. It's good to have places where you can ride the new bikes.
ReplyDeleteHailey will be jealous of Sophie's new jacket!
