We left Saddle Mountain on Wednesday and decided to stop in Quartzsite for propane, laundry, and to pick up some mounts for a new solar panel Jim ordered. Still quite a few people around town but nothing like it was a couple weeks ago during the RV show. We still had to get gas and dump tanks, which we did at Laguna RV Park on our way up the road to Mittry Lake. It was just about dusk when we arrived but Debbie had been there for a week and had a spot picked out for us. It is perfect, with a nice palo verde tree and a view of the lake.
Another Lazy Daze friend, Chris, had arrived the day before, then Suzanne came the next day, and Kim yesterday. We have quite a group.
Chris, Jim and I took a hike Thursday morning on the trails behind the camping area. There are trails everywhere and it’s easy to get turned around back in there. I’m thinking Jim needs to be wearing a helmet at all times, not just on the bike.
That evening we had a mini blogger meet-up at Da Boyz Italian Cuisine in downtown Yuma. From left, non-blogger Debbie, Jim, me, Ian and Kate from The Scenic Route, Hans and Lisa from Metamorphosis Road, and Suzanne from Take To The Highway.
We met Hans and Lisa in Sequim, WA last summer but this was our first time meeting Ian and Kate. A good time was had by all, I think.
Yesterday Jim and I got up early for my 8 o’clock appointment with the endodontist in Algodones. Part one of the root canal was fairly painless. Part two happens next Friday, can’t wait. On our way home we stopped at an RV dealer just to look around, Walmart, and the post office where Jim picked up his new Garmin Vivofit, which will hopefully make him get up and move more. Despite all the hiking and biking we do he spends way too many hours sitting at the computer without getting up, not good for veins that want to clot. The Vivofit has an annoying red bar of light that reminds you it’s time to move around. He obeyed it yesterday but we’ll see if it continues to motivate him as time goes on. We know several people with Fitbits who say they really do help.
Turns out cousins of our Iowa friends Chuck and Carla are also here and stopped by to say hello last evening at happy hour.
Mornings here have been cool and peaceful. I enjoy the half mile walk to the trash dumpsters along the lake as the sun is rising. By mid afternoon it’s getting into the 80s. So nice to be wearing shorts in February!
Here at Bibe it is shorts after lunch but it is a great start. We have been in the mid 40s for this week in the morning and 68-74 after lunch. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteGreat location, great company!
ReplyDeleteThat last shot definitely puts you in paradise. I'm looking forward to shorts next week, somewhere.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea with the little blogger-fest.
ReplyDeleteI love the reflections of the palm trees in Mittry Lake.
I love the clear sky early mornings with the sun just coming up and knowing you have a full day of adventure ahead. I wish my morning walk to the mailbox to pick up the daily newspaper had a few Palm trees. Enjoy the warmth, while I still leave tracks in the snow.
ReplyDeleteI am soooo jealous! Wish our Lazy Daze could join the group. Would love to meet up with everyone in person. All the blogs have me drooling!!! ;->
ReplyDeleteVirtual hugs,
Judie
I'll see you guys tomorrow - I've never been to Mittry Lake, so I'm looking forward to being in a new place, too. It looks beautiful, especially that last shot. :)
ReplyDeleteGood to see all the familiar faces. what a beautiful photo of the lake.....Makes me want to join you too, but alas, it is still winter here, although 57 today!
ReplyDeleteLove that last shot. Nice weather, pretty views, and great company sounds like a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteLooks like your photo turned out a little better than mine did...Jim has his eyes closed in mine!
ReplyDeleteMittry looks like a nice place to stay far from the hustle and bustle of Yuma. Throw in a nice group of people and the relatively barren desert isn't so bad!
Sure looks like another nice group get together. Glad you were able to meet up with Hans and Lisa again:) Good to see Suzanne with the you.
ReplyDeleteYuma sure was warming up very fast. It is amazing what a feet thousand feet does to cooling it down especially at night. We were staying close to 60 at night while we were in there. A little too warm for me. I do like your lake location, nice and private and quiet:)
It was great to meet you all, hope we'll see you again down the road. By the way we found some of the beer, Left Hand Brewery Milk Stout Nitro, that Jim recommended. It's in the refrigerator ready to be tasted tonight!!
ReplyDeleteGreat to meet you two as well. If you don't like the Nitro I will take it off your hands.
DeleteJim
Just tried it, good recommendation. It is delicious.
DeleteLove the palms by the lake shot. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteParty, party, party! Isn't retirement fantastic, especially with a great group of friends?
ReplyDeleteWish I was there

Hi Mike, come join us. There's plenty of room for more!
DeleteWhat a Motley Crue!
ReplyDeleteWas there a week ago and camped down by the lake. Saw Debbie's rig but didn't care for the ridge camp. Looks like it was a good LD gathering.
