The more "modernized" a park is the more visitors will visit I find. The Smokies might be the exception to that rule, though they have the most visitors they don't have a lot of facilities, but I think most of their visitors are "drive-bys" anyway from what I've seen when there.Pam https://www.blogger.com/profile/05979446142128610261noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9062337474734435253.post-87191124284682618282015-06-09T17:58:23.348-07:002015-06-09T17:58:23.348-07:00We didn't do the cave tour, but since we were t...We didn't do the cave tour, but since we were there in the fall, we did see the bristle cone pines. I'm surprised there was anything left if they encouraged people to take souvenirs! Although it is a disappointment not to be able to get onto trails due to snow, having no crowds is a real plus. I too have issues with claustrophobia so our time at Lava Beds NM was quite interesting with all the caves. I'm sorry you couldn't get to the Bristlecones. If they rent snowshoes, give it a try:) Or just check out the photos on our blog:) Can't wait to see how you did with Wheeler Peak. We got so close!!!! But that little narrow ice trail for the final 300 ft across the sheer cliff face wasn't happening without poles. Boy, that elevation can really get to you. Starting at 10,100 ft was bad enough for me! It was most definitely a VERY slow climb.John and Pam (ohtheplacestheygo.wordpress.com)https://www.blogger.com/profile/10853924678665624403noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9062337474734435253.post-41989725058980085122015-06-04T20:34:35.950-07:002015-06-04T20:34:35.950-07:00Such a treasure that park is.
