We made our final trip to Nuevo Progreso so Jim could get his implant checked, and all is doing well. This time we actually bought something other than dental work, a couple t-shirts and a table runner which I put on the back of the couch.
When we walked across the bridge to go through customs, we were surprised at the long line of pedestrians. All the other times we’ve been there we’ve had just a few people ahead of us. Luckily it only took about 10 minutes to get through.
Unlike the poor people in cars who had to wait through this long line which was backed up across the bridge into downtown.
On our way home we stopped at Estero Llano Grande State Park, which is just a few miles from the Progreso border, to take a walk and look at birds. Too bad I forgot to bring the binoculars, but it was very windy and in the mid 80s so the birds weren’t too active anyway.
I Googled why cormorants spread their wings like this, and it is thought this is to dry them. I think they just like to show off.
One more week and we’ll be back on the road. We still have quite a few things to take care of before we leave, but we’re slowly making progress. Along with doing some training for our “job” next season and one or two more visits to Cinderella it will be a busy week.
This is what I will miss most. Charlie is one of my favorites.
Good thing you didn't have to wait in the auto line to cross. It took me over 2 hours to get thru customs. YUK!
ReplyDeleteWOW...we have never been that long a line in two years.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you find your table runner?
Oh goodness, how can you leave that little one? Too cute! ~wheresweaver
Charlie is indeed a very handsome fella. We have an orange kitty that looks very much like him.
ReplyDeleteThat is one LOOOONG line but glad you made it through in good time. Walking across the border is the only way to go - well if you're not going to Mexico City or something lol!!
I believe cormorants don't have the oil gland that other birds use to waterproof their feathers. :)
