Maybe our record, less than half a mile north to the Howard Creek Campground, still in Westport Union State Park. We didn’t realize it was open since when I called last week the woman said just one camping area was open on the bluffs. We could see a couple of RVs down the road, so we drove there yesterday morning to check it out and decided to spend another night on the ocean.
Even closer to the water.
Spent a relaxing day beachcombing at low tide again. This is a very deserted part of California, so it’s easy to take a walk and not see another person. We did come across this abalone diver and wondered how he got down the bluffs to the water.
Like the jade hunter we met in San Simeon, they have a rope secured to the bank. He made it look so easy going up one-handed that Jim gave it a try. He realized pretty quickly that I wouldn’t follow him, so we just walked back along the beach. You can barely see the head of a woman up there waiting for him.
Here are some random photos from yesterday.
Today we move back into the redwoods.
I sure enjoyed all your pics of the tide-pools.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures. Looks like you are in a great location. Sometimes hard to find places in CA that aren't overrun with people.
