Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens

After a tasty vegan breakfast at Raven’s Restaurant at the Stanford Inn in Mendocino, we stopped off at Russian Gulch State Park for a short hike to more fantastic coastal scenery.

Then it was on to the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens, a dog friendly place full of trails lined with beautiful trees and flowers. And rustic gates.

Rhododendruns of every color were in bloom, but I can’t remember the names of most of the other flowers so I won’t even try. And it really doesn’t matter. They are just nice to look at.

One of the trails goes out to the ocean, and along the way we stopped at the Cliff House, a building that offers protection from the ocean breezes along with quite a view.

  3. I didn't get to see the botanical gardens but the flowers in Mendocino were breathtaking in the town, itself, and in just about every home. My very favorite little house in the world is in Mendocino. I was surprised to see the house that was used in "Murder She Wrote". Thought it was filmed in New England.

  5. Little Lizzy is wonderful! One would be hard-pressed to choose between the coastline and the flowers to look at all day - both are just beautiful.

  8. Those flower photos are gorgeous. I haven't seen a fuchsia in years - but my mom had a bunch in her garden when I was growing up, and I did, too. They are beautiful in hanging pots. :)

  14. It definitely was a good day! Beautiful flowers. I love the last photo with the gorgeous coast blooming with spring flowers.

I see that you are meeting up with Leigh and Brian. I was wondering if you knew them since Leigh just posted about the same garden. Have a fun time together.
