What Would YOU Do?

Our next door neighbors moved in after Christmas, nice couple from Missouri. He’s a musician, and plays guitar on Tuesdays in the clubhouse jam session. Thursday after lunch we hear “mike check”, guitars tuning up, then country music (not our favorite). It is at this point we realize it’s coming from the site next to ours. Jim’s immediate reaction is to go to the office and see if we can change sites. I, being more level headed, suggest we wait and see if this is just a one time thing or a regular occurrence before we make waves. We go off on a bike ride and they’re finished when we get back.

Fast forward to yesterday afternoon. We rode bikes for a few hours and it was such a pleasant day we were looking forward to coming back and sitting outside to read. As we approached our site there is another jam session taking place. And this is amplified music, not just acoustic, so the sound can be heard all around the park. Several people bring chairs to sit and listen. We just get more irritated, go inside and shut the door. Jim decided he would talk to the guy later, but as he sat and fumed he decided to go to the office and talk to the manager. She was already gone for the day, so now he’s trying to decide how to approach the issue. Are we wrong to think this is inappropriate?

What would YOU do???

Since I didn’t take photos of the band, I’ll post a couple more cat pictures from Cinderella Pet Rescue. I haven’t learned all their names yet.

  1. Of course you should change to a site further away from the tunes. Even if you love country music, you might not like it on the neighbor's schedule.

  2. I would complain to management and then move... probably out of the park.

  3. Sadly there are no other sites and if we move out of the park that means moving out of Mission since after having checked out 10 other parks there is nowhere else in this area that we would want to stay.

If it happens again will go to the mgr and if they have no policy regarding this will talk to the guy myself. As Gayle said they are nice folks and I would hope that we if it is brought up they will stop it or make other arrangements.

Barring that there is always firearms to resort to.

  4. Sorry to hear about the crummy situation. Seems to me, this is what they made clubhouses for. If they want to play, they should setup there. I would talk to management - they may not even know it is happening.

At the very least, you might ask the neighbors to unplug - go acoustic.

  5. At a minimum, I'd put on my earphones with my iPod and sit outside...hoping NOT hearing their music over mine. Of course this means you can't carry on much of a conversation...sigh...

  7. I'm a musician myself, but I'd never consider doing that. It's no different than if you set up a stereo system outside your rig and cranked it up. I would imagine the campground has a policy about sound levels. Good luck!

Now - where do I plug in these bagpipes?

  8. I would talk with the manager. The music should be in a place where it doesn't disturb other campers.

  10. You might also want to see how your other neighbors are handling it. There is more power in numbers.

Or just "Grin and Bear It". Country music isn't all that bad!

  11. Don't change sites or lock yourself up inside, complain to the management and have him move it inside the clubhouse. If they insist on letting him continue then I would tell them that I'm going to buy a junk trumpet at the pawn shop and start practicing reveille at sunrise every morning.

If this was happening in a regular neighborhood and you called the police he would be ticketed for disturbing the peace.

GOD I hate it when people like this show up, with no consideration for anybody else and just do what ever the hell they want.

Maybe you can tell I hate A$$holes like this.

  12. It's not you who should have to change sites - which, it seems from your comment is not an option - what he's doing is not acceptable in no way, shape, or form. Hopefully, management will put an end to it.

  13. 5am I'd be outside blasting my choice of music in your neighbor's direction.

    Good luck!

  14. Looks like I'm the last to weigh in on this and I agree that this should not be happening to you. It is not your neighbor's right to blast his music all over no matter how many folks pull up chairs. I'm just AMAZED that someone would do that and assume no responsibility for the possibility that not EVERYONE wants to hear him amplified. Sure hope the management will do something about this for you. Be sure to update. I'd thought about stopping in Mission but if this is the best park and they have no noise rules, I'll probably think again. Maybe you could mention the "bad press" they are getting over this.

  15. Are you taking guitar lessons yet?

  16. Gayle, The last cat pic is a dead ringer for our cat that we found in Biloxi back in 1976. She lived to be 24 years old. We still miss her...

  17. Even if you like country-western music, you should be able to choose when and where you listen to it. If talking to the manager and/or the neighbor doesn't work, I'd be sure to make my comments on RV Park Reviews.com very clear. Good luck!

  18. Call the DHS and tell 'em one them "Tee Pardeez" has s done commenced and you think you saw some racist Al-Queda in the group! That'll get that business stopped in a Napolitano-minute! But, then again, they probably won't answer the phone.
